Diagnostic Thoracoscopy for evaluation of Pleuro Pulmonary diseases

Diagnostic Thoracoscopy for evaluation of Pleuro Pulmonary diseases. This is one of the latest procedures in pulmonary medicine and very few centres offering this. In AP this is probably one of the only centres offering this test. This test involves introduction of a telescope into the chest cage by making a small-1cm- incision on the chest along the side of the chest and introducing this instrument. By this the entire lung suface can be examined and also the chest cage from the inside. This is helpful in cases of fluid accumulation in the chest called Pleural Effusion and also in cases of diffuse lung diseases like Interstitial lung disease. One can obtain biopsy material and fluid for examination.
